Oral biofilm

Growth in the form of biofilm is bacteria’s main way of life, and it facilitates their survival in most environmental conditions.

The oral cavity is one of the parts of the body that is most colonised by biofilm-forming bacteria, and despite representing only one ecological niche, it offers many diverse anatomical spaces (tongue, tonsils, teeth, gingival sulcus…) where metabolically different bacteria interact to create a complex microbial ecosystem.

A recent article by Dr. Blanc, expert in oral microbiology and head of DENTAID’s R&D&I Department, was presented in her lecture on oral biofilms at the SEPA-Dentaid Symposium in Madrid this past March 2014.
