Decision-making in aesthetics: root coverage revisited.

Decision-making for root coverage procedures can only partly be based upon scientific evidence. Therefore, this chapter also focuses on the ‘‘unknowns’’ – overall aesthetic outcome and factors of relevance for successfull results of the individual case. It should be realized that many opinions and recommendations presented here are primarily – and by necessity – based on our personal clinical experiences. Nevertheless, we feel that careful decision-making prior to root coverage procedures will enhance the success rate for these efforts.
