We present a case report, prepared by Doctors Eduardo Montero and David Herrera of the University Complutense de Madrid, where they address the treatment of an adult diabetic patient with generalized chronic periodontitis.
Forty-eight year old male patient, diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and undergoing drug treatment with metaformin. Patient comes into the dental clinic because of gingival inflammation with bleeding and suppuration. Occlusal, intra- and extra-oral, periodontal and radiographic examinations and microbiological diagnosis are performed.
Below you will find the diagnosis and treatment plan that were performed. You will also be able to observe how the adjunctive use of a 0.12% Chlorhexidine + 0.05% CPC mouthrinse resulted in a marked improvement of clinical and microbiological parameters.
